PU paper leak case: HC grants bail to four accused

Bengaluru: The High Court of Karnataka granted conditional bail to four people accused in the PU II Chemistry question paper leak case on Friday, July 22.

Justice K N Phaneendra granted bail to Obalaraju (51), M V Rudrappa (50), K S Ranganath (49) and B Anil Kumar (46). The accused were asked to execute a bond of `2 lakh and provide two sureties each. They were also asked to mark attendance once a week between 10am and 5pm at the police station till the final report is filed or for three months.

Justice Phaneendra said the court has granted stay so far as Karnataka Control of Organised Crimes Act (KCOCA Act) is concerned for eight weeks. The court has also clarified that it would consider whether invocation of the provision of Section 3 of KCOCA Act is proper or not. KCOCA was invoked on the accused after CID submitted a requisition before the 1st ACMM, Bengaluru, on April 20.
