Bengaluru: In a historic first, the traditional coastal folk game of Kambala will be conducted in the Silicon City. All preparations are in place for a gathering of thousands of spectators. Additionally, the Kambala Committee has shared positive news for Appu fans.
The traditional folk game of Kambala, a form of buffalo racing, has made its debut in the capital city for the first time. What makes it unique is that the Kambala Committee has decided to name it “Bengaluru Kambala after Appu.” This vibrant event is set to take place with great enthusiasm at the Palace Grounds in the city on the 25th and 26th of this month. The folk sport will be presented with the tagline ‘Bangalore Kambala Namma Kambala.’
The name for this pair of Kambalas had not been finalized, sparking curiosity about what name Bengaluru would adopt. Now, the suspense is over. Yes. As a mark of respect to Puneeth Rajkumar, this year’s Bengaluru Kambala has been renamed as Puneeth-Raj Kambala, incorporating the names of Kannada legends Rajkumar and Puneeth.
The decision to name it Puneeth-Raj Kambala was under discussion within our committee, and it has now been concluded. The inauguration of this event will be extended as an invitation to Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar, as informed by the committee president, Umesh Shetty.
