Bengaluru’s historic Queen Victoria statue at Queen’s Circle has been damaged, with its crown dislodged under unclear circumstances. The statue, unveiled by George Frederick Ernest Albert on February 5, 1906, is a prominent heritage landmark.

Heritage Beku, a conservation group, raised concerns, suggesting the crown may have been deliberately removed. However, DCP Shekhar H Tekkanavar proposed that it could have fallen due to someone attempting to garland the statue.

The Horticulture Department recovered the broken pieces and initiated repairs, while BBMP engineers and horticulture officials are investigating. CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed to identify the cause.
