Bengaluru: Former AICC chief, Rahul Gandhi, will be addressing two rallies in Karnataka on Wednesday. This will be the first visit of the former AICC chief since Lok Sabha election dates were announced.

Gandhi will campaign for the party’s candidate in Mandya, and Kolar will address rallies and seek votes for them.

According to schedule, Gandhi will arrive at HAL Airport around 1.30 pm and leave for Mandya in a chopper. He will address a rally organised for Venkataramane Gowda, popularly known as Star Chandru, at Mandya University Ground. From there, he will fly to Chokkandhalli Gate and address a rally organised for Kolar Congress candidate KV Gowtham.

DCM DK Shivakumar informed the media that the Gandhi scion will be attending two rallies, one in Mandya and another in Kolar district. To a question about whether Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will be coming to campaign, Shivakumar said her schedule is busy; however, state leaders have asked her to do a campaign for one day.

The Congress party has fielded Star Chandru from Mandya constituency, and former CM HD Kumaraswamy is contesting as a JD(S) candidate. KV Gowtham is contesting against the JD(S) party’s M Mallesh Babu.

The southern districts of Karnataka will vote on April 26, and the 14 districts of the northern parts of Karnataka will vote on May 7.
