Bengaluru: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi slammed the textbook review exercise in Karnataka through a series of tweets in Kannada.
In his tweets, he stated that Congress is committed to preserving the Kannada culture and the pride of Kannadigas and Karnataka.
He further stated that Kannadigas have shown many times that when the pride and self-esteem of the State are compromised, everyone is united. Congress will not allow the government to impose these contaminated textbooks on children which are fatal to the plurality of Karnataka.
He alleged that this review exercise is aimed at the saffronisation of the education system. The fate of the children of Karnataka has been entrusted to the unqualified hands. It is a disgrace to India which is known for unity and diversity. The revised textbooks are against the core of Indian democracy like social justice, regionalism and gender equality, he added.
“The people of Karnataka have always adhered to the principles of social justice, great unity and humanism. But this BJP government trying to teach the values against what Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, Buddha-Basavanna, Narayana Guru, Kuvempu and other great personalities propagated their life,” he wrote.
