Bengaluru: Even though the South West monsoon has started retreating, an active low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal is causing heavy rains in coastal Karnataka and South Interior areas of the state.
On Sunday, at least 5 persons died in the rain related incidents across the state.
Meanwhile, in Bengaluru, normal life was disrupted in several places due to the rain. At JP nagar, a Covid 19 swab collection center was also flooded with rainwater. Locals fear that at least few samples would have mixed with the flood water.
In Bagalkot and Raichur, two farmers were washed away in the flash floods. In Kalaburugi, two children drowned in a lake. A youth died in the Gadag district.
The IMD has warned more rains across the state except South Interior parts on Monday also.
