Bengaluru: In every hospital, it is a common scene for pregnant women to seek an appointment and wait for the doctor for routine checks. However, February 24 promised to be a different experience for hundreds of expectant mothers at the Birth Right by Rainbow Hospital. The women were treated to one of their best gifts as they were part of the official baby shower organised by the hospital itself. It was not just a baby shower as the expectant mothers got a chance to walk the ramp in traditional attire followed by music therapy classes and yummy food. The pregnant women were given tips on baby safety and all of them were pampered with gifts.

Being a mother is a precious gift from God. Hence, the Birth Right by Rainbow Hospital came up with this innovative idea of a baby shower for all the expecting mothers to celebrate motherhood by taking a day out and relaxing.

The day started with counselling sessions on lactation, mommy make overs, fun games, tips on birthing, photo sessions for the couples and games for the couples with prizes. The event also gave an opportunity for the expecting mothers to interact with their gynaecologists informally and meet the core team which will assist them through their stay in hospital. The event was also an ice breaker as it helped the expectant mothers reduce their apprehension for the coming big day in the hospital by making them feel at home. The final three winners of the Traditional Fashion show got a suite room upgradation for their stay during the delivery.

Speaking to the media, Neelam Pandita Wazir said, “Being away from parents during pregnancy is very difficult. But, the love and care Rainbow Hospital has given me has reduced that emptiness during this lovely phase of my life.” She was joined by Madhavi Babu who said, “I feel like it’s not a show but it’s the joy with the rainbow team. Thanks to rainbow for making me rejoice with unforgettable moments.” “It means a lot that they care and show appreciation towards the moms”, said another expectant mother.

The hospital authorities said that the baby shower was also special for a few women as they realised that some could not afford baby showers at their homes. So, the hospital stepped in to help contribute to a happy and healthy pregnancy. Dr. Kavitha Kovi, senior gynaecologist, Birth Right by Rainbow Children’s Hospital said that pregnancy was a joyous occasion. Would-be-mothers need a lot of encouragement and love and a sense of security before they embark on the most crucial part of the journey and a baby shower is one way of showing them that they would be taken care of well.

The hospital received an overwhelming response to the baby shower. They put flyers up around the clinic and the women went home with a gift.
