Bengaluru: High Grounds police arrested a woman in connection with a recent incident in which farmer leader Rakesh Tikait was assaulted and his face was smeared with black ink.
The accused has been identified as Umadevi, a Hebbal resident and Shivakumar’s sister, who was arrested on the day of the incident.
Tikait, the leader of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, was attacked at Gandhi Bhavan while attending a farmers’ meeting and giving a press conference on May 30. Three people had been arrested in connection with the incident. “Umadevi was taken for questioning on Sunday following investigations proved her role in the incident. She was arrested on Monday based on her confession. We are questioning her further, ” informed the police.
