On Friday, the Raman Research Institute (RRI) in Sadashivnagar, Bengaluru, held a spectacular sky watch event for astronomy enthusiasts. The event, organised in partnership with Young Innovators Educational Services, an edu-tech company, was dedicated to celebrating the planetary parade and was open to the public.
The evening began with an observation of the Moon through four telescopes, followed by Saturn, the first planet to fade from view as the night wore on. As the event progressed, participants were able to spot other planets and even the four moons of Jupiter at varying times throughout the evening.
Alongside stargazing, the event offered fun and engaging astronomy trivia, captivating both children and adults and sparking curiosity about the cosmos. These interactive activities added an educational element, making the evening both enjoyable and informative for all attendees.
RRI expressed its joy in hosting such a large and diverse group of space enthusiasts, all brought together by their shared passion for the universe. Prof. Saurabh Singh, an RRI faculty member, highlighted the overwhelming public enthusiasm, leading organisers to extend the sky watch until February 1, giving more people the opportunity to participate.
The event was a resounding success, offering an exciting opportunity for people of all ages to engage with the wonders of space, further fueling the growing interest in science and astronomy within Bengaluru.
