Ramanagar: The district and sessions court has issued an arrest warrant against fugitive ‘Godman’ Nityananda on Wednesday, February 19, as the Karnataka High Court had recently quashed the rape accused’s bail.

Judge Siddalinga Prabhu of the III Addl. District and Sessions Judge pronounced the verdict on Wednesday.

It can be recalled that Nityananda’s former car driver Lenin Karuppan had filed a plea with the Karnataka High Court to reject the bail granted in relation to the 10-year-old sexual harassment case.

Lenin and his lawyers had also argued that Nityananda was intentionally not appearing for the hearing.

Taking this into consideration, Justice John Michael Cunha of the Karnataka High Court had quashed the bail granted to the fugitive ‘Godman’ and had directed the concerned officials to take him into custody, on February 5.

Government-appointed lawyer Raghu said that as Nityananda’s bail was rejected by the High Court, the sessions court, today issued an arrest warrant and directed the COD officials to take him into custody and seize the bail deposit amount by filing a separate application for it.
