Bengaluru: For the second day in a row, the Ramanagara district has been shut down in protest against the arrest of Congress troubleshooter and former minister D K Shivakumar.
Fearing violence, the district administration had announced holiday for schools and colleges in the area. The KSRTC has also suspended operations in the district. All the government offices have been shut down fearing an attack by the Congress members.
Meanwhile, the Mysuru-Bengaluru road has been blocked at Ramanagara and Channapatna, disrupting the movement of vehicles. The police have diverted the vehicles, including KSRTC buses, via Bellur cross, Kunigal and Navarang road.
Trains services have remained largely unaffected.
Additional police forces have been deployed in the district from the neighbouring Mysuru and Mandya districts.
