Ramanagara: As many as 14 JD (S) leaders and activists were booked by the Channapatna Rural Police on Sunday October 2 for allegedly throwing eggs and stones at BJP MLC C. P. Yogeshwar’s car on Saturday at the ground-breaking ceremony for works on rural roads and C C drains.
The police have charged the JD (S) workers for violating IPC sections 353 and 427 based on the complaint made by Yogeshwar’s driver Venkatesh. While providing security for the MLC, a constable from the Channapatna Rural Station who was stationed at the bandobust site has also filed a complaint alleging that a few JD (S) workers threw stones at him.
JD (S) workers attacked Yogeshwar’s car with stones and eggs in Bhairapatna on Saturday as local MLA H. D. Kumaraswamy was not invited to the ground-breaking ceremonies in five villages.
Nikhil Kumaraswamy, the State President of the JD (S) youth wing, met with Channapatna DySP Omprakash on Sunday in response to the complaints made against the party workers. Speaking to mediapersons Nikhil said, “The District Administration had cancelled the events, thus the police shouldn’t have allowed the ground-breaking ceremonies. The police’s treatment of the JD (S) workers was not right.”
