Bengaluru: Based on the appeal filed by the rebel MLAs of Congress-Janata Dal (S) state coalition to the Supreme Court against the speaker of Karnataka Legislative Assembly, Ramesh Kumar, here on Wednesday, July 10, the bench headed by Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi has assured to look into the matter today.
The rebel MLAs have alleged Speaker Ramesh Kumar of not performing his duties according to the Constitution of India, and not accepting the resignation that had already been filed. All the rebel MLAs who are currently residing in a hotel in Mumbai have collectively filed an appeal through Former Attorney General of India, Mukul Rohatgi.
It can be recalled that, yesterday, Speaker Ramesh Kumar had inspected the resignations that were submitted to his office, and had clarified that eight out of 13 resignations were not according to the format prescribed by the law. He had given them time till Friday, July 12 noon to meet him and personally submit the resignations in appropriate format and also have a meeting with him.
