Bengaluru: The Zika virus has been identified in a mosquito in Chikkaballapur. Fortunately, test results for 30 asymptomatic individuals from Bengaluru Urban and Chikkaballapura districts turned out negative, bringing relief to the concerned residents.
The Zika virus poses a risk of microcephaly and other severe complications in newborns. Consequently, pregnant women are advised to take precautions against infection. Health department authorities have issued a warning, urging the public to guard against mosquito bites, especially during the daytime.
