After enduring a scorching 150-day dry spell, Bengaluru residents can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the heavens opened up, bringing much-needed rain to the city. The rainfall, which was reported in Kengeri and Yelahanka, marks the end of a long period of hot and dry weather that has plagued the region.

Social Media Abuzz as Rain Finally Reaches Bengaluru

Bengaluru residents took to social media to express their joy as showers finally reached the city. On Thursday, rains were also reported in Anekal and Kanakpura road.

Longest Dry Spell in Over Six Decades Ends

It must be noted that as other parts of Karnataka, including Vijayapura, Bidar, and Bagalkot, experience rainfall, Bengaluru, globally known for its pleasant climate, had endured its longest dry spell in 62 years. According to IMD data, the city has gone without rain for 146 days.

IMD Forecast Brings Hope

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had forecasted a shift in weather patterns, indicating a possibility of rain across several districts in Karnataka, including Bengaluru Urban and Rural, from Friday (April 19th) to Tuesday (April 23rd).

Rejuvenating the Region

While the city itself experienced only light rain or thundershowers in the evenings or nights, some areas within the state saw heavier rainfall. This long-awaited rain not only offers relief from the scorching heat but also replenishes water sources and rejuvenates the surrounding greenery.

A Herald of the Monsoon Season

The rainfall in Kengeri and other parts of Bengaluru brings a much-needed respite to the residents and heralds the arrival of the monsoon season, bringing with it the promise of cooler days ahead.
