Bengaluru: In a move to boost its Hubballi development centre, Infosys is offering monetary incentives up to Rs 8 lakh for employees willing to relocate. The Hubballi campus, spanning 50 acres and operational since 2022, is capable of accommodating up to 5,000 professionals.
In an internal communication, Infosys urged its employees to consider a career move to the Hubballi centre, highlighting the opportunity to “go glocal.” The company is extending relocation benefits to junior employees at job level 2 from other Infosys centres. These benefits include a relocation allowance and cash incentives disbursed in five instalments over a 24-month period post-transfer.
The incentive structure varies with career levels. Junior employees at job levels 2 and 3 will receive a total of Rs 1.2 lakh. Senior associates are set to get Rs 2.5 lakh, while technology leads at job level 5 are eligible for up to Rs 5 lakh. Mid-level employees relocating to Hubballi will receive Rs 6 lakh, and senior delivery managers at job level 7 will be awarded Rs 8 lakh after completing two years at the Hubballi centre. Infosys has yet to respond to queries regarding this initiative.
Infosys has also adopted a flexible work-from-office policy. Employees can work from any nearby satellite centres and are required to be in the office for just 10 days a month. This approach aims to balance operational needs with employee convenience.
This incentive program follows recent comments from industries minister MB Patil, who criticized Infosys for underutilizing land allotted to them in Hubballi. The issue, highlighted in the assembly by BJP MLA Arvind Bellad, pointed to the IT firm’s failure to meet job creation targets despite receiving land at subsidized rates. This new initiative by Infosys may address such concerns by encouraging more employees to relocate and contribute to the Hubballi centre’s growth.
