The rising incidents of dangerous driving by delivery agents in Bengaluru have sparked widespread outrage among residents, who are blaming the pressure for quick 10-minute deliveries for the increasing risk to pedestrians and motorists.
In response, the Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) encouraged citizens to report traffic violations through their Astram portal, stating, “Please provide specific area details, or use the Astram portal to report violations. We thank you for bringing this to our attention.”
On social media, users voiced their frustration over the careless behavior of delivery riders. One user mentioned, “They look at you like you’re a criminal for walking on the footpath!” highlighting the growing disregard for pedestrian safety.
Others criticized the impatience of delivery riders, particularly at traffic signals. “This is a serious menace. Many can’t wait for 1-2 minutes for the signal to turn green and instead find ways to bypass traffic. Delivery riders are the biggest violators,” one person wrote, urging the police to impose heavy fines on the companies.
A commuter shared a disturbing incident: “A delivery boy jumped on my car yesterday—without a helmet, talking on the phone, while taking a wrong right turn. I’m glad he didn’t die. My car is in shambles, but these young boys are losing their way because of Blinkit.”
