A restaurant in Bengaluru has sparked online chatter with its unusual signboard, urging patrons to avoid discussions about real estate and politics while dining.

A user on X shared an image of the sign at a JP Nagar eatery, which reads: “This facility is only for dine-in purpose, not for real estate/political discussions. Please understand and cooperate.” The post quickly went viral, with many amused by the restriction.

It’s common in Bengaluru to see groups huddled over property documents in cafes and restaurants, making such boards a familiar sight. Several users pointed out that eateries discourage long debates when customers order minimally but occupy tables for extended periods.

Entrepreneur Gautam Pradhan quipped that real estate discussions have no alternative venue since “Bangalore parks are all closed in the afternoon!” Others joked about groups ordering just a few coffees while dominating the space with loud conversations.

However, not everyone agreed. Congress spokesperson Lavanya Ballal Jain questioned the restriction, saying, “Why police what people talk about? They are paying for their food.” The original poster clarified that the rule mainly targets those who linger for hours with minimal orders.

The debate highlights Bengaluru’s unique cafe culture, where real estate chatter is as common as filter coffee!
