This Saturday, Bengaluru experienced a familiar pattern, with temperatures soaring to 34.4°C. According to forecasts by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Sunday is expected to see a further rise, potentially reaching 35°C. The minimum temperature throughout the upcoming week is predicted to stay around 19°C.

Meanwhile, in the ongoing Hampi gangrape case, a missing male co-traveller was found deceased, and two suspects have been apprehended. Other local news highlights include a Bengaluru auto driver smashing a car window in a road rage incident and swift police action being taken. Another viral incident involves a Bengaluru techie and a woman, leading to police scrutiny due to their controversial display of affection.

The Deccan Herald reports that C.S. Patil, Director of the Meteorological Centre, has warned that Bengaluru’s maximum temperature could rise to 39°C between April and mid-May. A cooling trend may only emerge after the third week of May.

This heat wave isn’t limited to Bengaluru. North Interior Karnataka (NIK) is also bracing for temperatures to rise 2-4°C above normal in the coming days. Kalaburagi has already reached 39.2°C, which is 2°C above its average. By May, regions such as Yadgir, Raichur, and Vijayapura could experience temperatures up to 45°C.

The current dry spell is expected to last through Monday, though South Interior Karnataka may see light showers on March 11 and 12 due to a weather system forming over Tamil Nadu. Coastal areas like Dakshina Kannada and Udupi will also experience scattered rains. Despite the heat, no official heatwave warnings have been issued yet.
