Romping Rs. 4850 crores paid to contractors in 3 months?

Bengaluru: Responding to the letter from IT Director General, the Government of Karnataka has informed that a sum of Rs 4,850 cr has been paid to the contractors between January and March 31, 2018 from various departments towards bills.

Recently, Income Tax Department Director General B R Balakrishna had written a letter to the State Chief Secretary, requesting documents related to the funds released to contractors over last three months in the state, as there are allegations that money is released to contractors to use it for the election purposes. 

All department heads had passed an emergency fax message to their immediate juniors on Saturday, to collect and pass the documents about the release of money, within State Highway Development Project, National Highway Project, Irrigation Corporations, Panchayat Raj and various other departments, before Tuesday.
