A 48-year-old rowdy-sheeter was brutally hacked to death on a busy road in Bengaluru’s JP Nagar on Saturday evening in what police suspect to be a revenge attack by a rival gang.
Victim chased before fatal attack
The deceased has been identified as Raju alias Hallu Muraka Raja, a history-sheeter with multiple criminal cases, including murder, attempted murder and robbery, registered against him.
According to police, Raja had stopped at a tea stall after visiting a salon and was returning home at around 5.30 pm when a gang of five men allegedly chased him along JP Nagar Main Road before attacking him with lethal weapons in full public view. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Police suspect gang rivalry
Preliminary investigations suggest the murder may have been the result of longstanding gang rivalry or personal enmity. Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the area and questioning witnesses to identify the assailants and establish the motive behind the attack.
The brazen killing on a busy road triggered panic among commuters and local residents, with traffic disrupted briefly as police secured the crime scene.
Search launched for accused
Police have launched a manhunt to trace the five suspects involved in the attack. Senior officers said multiple teams have been formed to identify and arrest those responsible.
The body has been shifted for post-mortem examination, while a case of murder has been registered. Further investigation is underway to determine the exact sequence of events leading to the fatal assault.
