Bengaluru: A special drive by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) led to the recovery of 5.22 kg of ganja worth ₹4 lakh from the Bengaluru Cantonment railway station yard on Thursday. The operation was part of the ongoing ‘NARCOS’ campaign, aimed at curbing drug trafficking through the railways.

Unclaimed trolley bag leads to seizure

Officials said that during a routine patrol, a trolley bag left unattended in the station yard raised suspicion. On inspection, several plastic-wrapped bundles were found inside.

Local excise authorities were called to the scene and confirmed that the contents were ganja. The contraband was seized after all formalities were completed, and a case was registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Investigation underway

Authorities are now working to trace the owner of the trolley bag and determine the source and intended destination of the seized drugs. The RPF said such operations are part of its continued efforts to prevent the use of railways for illicit drug trafficking.
