Bengaluru: The BJP’s decision to give actor-turned-politician Jaggesh a ticket in the Rajaya Sabha polls on June 10 came as a surprise to the actor. Speaking to mediapersons at the BJP office here on Monday May 30 he said, “I did not expect to be chosen.”

“The party’s seniors urged me to submit my documents. I was surprised that the party High Command chose me as a candidate,” Jaggesh said.

“I did not apply for any post. I did not ask for anything.  I was completely engaged in the duties of the spokesperson on social media. The party, on the other hand, has shown faith in me,” he added.

Jaggesh said that if elected to the Indian Parliament’s upper house, he will work to promote Kannada’s virtues on a national level.

On Tuesday, he plans to file his nomination papers. “I’m now under a lot of pressure to collect all of the required documents.  There was a delay in collecting documents because I did not expect to be selected. I’ll file my nomination papers tomorrow (Tuesday) after everything is in place,” he added.
