Bengaluru: Here is a big shocker for the thousands of parents and children who are seeking admission in their nearest private school under the Right to Education (RTE) quota in the upcoming academic year 2019-20. With the idea of saving the government schools, the state government has directed the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) to re-map the schools in all the wards and neighbourhoods.
As per the new rule, free seats will be allocated in the private schools only after filling all the seats available in the government schools.
An order has been issued by the state government in this regard on Thursday.
As per the order, the government wants the DPI to take up the re-mapping exercise at the earliest. Once this exercise is done, the RTE seat matrix will be prepared. In the RTE seat allotment software, the seats available in the government schools will be filled up first and later seats in the private schools will be filled.
“All these days there were no demands for the seats in the government schools under the RTE free quota. With RTE free seat reimbursement amount crossing Rs. 300 crores per year, the state government has taken a decision in this regard,” informed authorities.
