Bengaluru: B S Yeddyurappa, president, BJP Karnataka unit, on Thursday demanded the state government to handover Rudresh murder probe to National Investigation Agency (NIA) since the police have failed to nab the culprits till now.

Speaking to mediapersons at Rudresh’s residence in Shivajinagar, Yeddyurappa said the state government has not taken measures to arrest the culprits of Rudresh murder. “I have no faith in the state government. It has not done anything to arrest the culprits of Rudresh murder case. The government has also failed to arrest the culprits in the murder of RSS and BJP activists in the state. I will talk to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in this regard and explain him about the need to handover Rudresh murder probe to the NIA,’’ Yeddyurappa said.

Former deputy chief minister R Ashok was also present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, Vidya, the widow of Rudresh, has said that Yeddyurappa has assured to bear the cost of her children’s education. “There were reports in the media about my husband was a real-estate businessman but he had nothing to do with the real-estate business. He was a civil contractor. If the leadership allows me, I am ready to take active role in strengthening RSS and BJP in Shivajinagar assembly segment,’’ Vidya said.
