Bengaluru: Consumption of food has become a major concern in the recent past, especially in India. The country has observed infiltration of imitations of FMCG products by Patanjali, Real fruit juice or Maggie.

Now it’s the turn of Britannia.

In a raid conducted by the Yelahanka police based on a complaint filed by a corporate intelligence firm representing Britannia, the police found in a godown on B B Road, packets of Britannia biscuits with a fake logo.

A police official has confirmed that the products seized were having fake logo of Britannia Company and it belonged to Rinkesh Enterprise.

The colour, design and shape were so similar that for a moment one would believe they were original. One of the biscuits had a name ‘Marie Delite’, which Britannia does not produce, except ‘Marie’ and ‘Marie Gold’.

The packets of Marie Delite were similar to Marie Gold.

The complainant has also said that the firm has managed to sell more biscuits by faking the original product.

According to police, these biscuits were sold in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana.

The police have also noted that the contents of the packet were of the actual biscuits.
