Kanakapura: In a shocking incident, sand mafia made a futile bid to kill Kanakapura taluk Tahsildar and accompanying staff members during official raid in the early hours of March 1.
Sand mafia planned to overpower the car in which Tahsildar Yogananda and his staff were travelling by using powerful earthmover JCB machine in filmy style. Sensing danger Tahsildar and his staff members jumped out of their car and started pelting stones at the JCB operator, manning the heavy vehicle.
The incident occurred when Tahsildar and his team planned a raid in the area after a definite tip off of sand mafia illegally mining sand in private land in Thattekere village limits.
When the JCB operator failed in his bid, he took on his heels and escaped in the cover of darkness.
