Bengaluru: Two policemen, including an Assistant Commissioner of Police of CCB, have been suspended following allegations that they were helping the acccused in the Sandalwood drug case, by leaking vital information.
This, they did after striking a massive monetary deal, claim sources.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Patil conducted an internal enquiry and established that the two policemen were helping the accused by leaking information related to the probe.
The suspended policemen haven been identified as MR Mudavi, ACP, Women Protection Wing of CCB and Head Constable Mallikarjun.
Sources told India Today TV that their investigation was being hampered due to information being leaked to associates of the accused.
Sandeep Patil has said, “ACP Mudavi has been placed under suspension. During inquiry, it was found that he was in contact with some associates of the accused and was giving and leaking information of investigation being done in the drugs case. And he is not part of the core team investigating the case. One HC Mallikarjun was also suspended.”
