Science Gallery Bengaluru (SGB) is gearing up to host the Sci560 Film Festival this weekend at the Bangalore International Centre (BIC). The festival will highlight the city’s scientific legacy, vibrant urban life, and diverse cultural identities through a carefully curated selection of films. Over two days, attendees will enjoy ten documentaries that delve into Bengaluru’s history, science, and unique cultural fabric.

The festival opens with the screening of Nitya Misra’s Down the Drain, a film supported by a commissioning grant from SGB. Following the screening, a discussion featuring Misra and socio-hydrologist Veena Srinivasan will offer deeper insights into the film’s environmental themes. Another standout film, Basav Biradar’s In Search of Gold, explores the Kolar Gold Fields, with a post-screening discussion featuring Biradar, physicists Nirmal Raj and Palahalli Vishwanath, and a closer look at the geological significance of the region.

In addition to the films, the festival will offer engaging activities such as a Bengaluru history quiz and a virtual scavenger hunt around the city. Participants can also enjoy interactive installations, inviting the public to contribute their memories, favorite spots, and soundscapes of Bengaluru.

Gayatri Manu, Programme Manager at Science Gallery Bengaluru, noted that the festival will feature 20 films in four languages, each offering a unique view into Bengaluru’s evolving identity. From its scientific legacy to its booming tech scene, the festival will capture the city’s essence through the power of film.

The event is free to attend with prior registration required through the Science Gallery Bengaluru website. It’s a perfect opportunity for locals and visitors alike to explore the dynamic spirit of Bengaluru through cinema.
