Bengaluru: Renowned scientist, Bharat Ratna awardee C N R Rao has urged the state and central governments to set up a Nano house in the city for cancer-related treatment and research.
Speaking at the golden jubilee celebration of the Karnataka Cancer Society in the city, on Sunday evening, he stated that cancer is spreading like wildfire. “The cancer hospitals are overcrowded. There is a need for sharing the treatment details between the hospitals and the doctors. Efforts are done to find a cure at JNCASR,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion, union minister DV Sadananda Gowda stated that he will release Rs. 5 lakh for the proposed Nano House in a week’s time.
Chief Guest of the event Tejaswini Anant Kumar stated that Adamya Chetana foundation will work towards creating awareness about Cancer across the state. “We will start a lung and a breast cancer screening center at Shankar cancer hospital,” she said.
“Our knowledge about Cancer is very less. I have seen treatment, machines and the pain from very close. When Anant Kumar was diagnosed with Cancer, I learnt about it. We need to create a lot of awareness,” she said.
