Bengaluru: The state government, has in a letter written to the Central government sought approval for further extending the service tenure of Chief Secretary K Rathna Prabha.

As per the decision, the state coalition government has sought an extension until September 2018 for K Rathna Prabha whose tenure ends on June 30. Notably, if the central government approves of the decision, this will be the second extension for the chief secretary.

In his letter dated June 18, Kumaraswamy has drawn attention to the fact that the coalition government was in its formative stage and hence they require the services of an able officer like Ratna Prabha whose experience will be of immense help while dealing with administrative affairs of the state.

K Rathna Prabha was appointed as Chief Secretary to the government of Karnataka on November 28, 2017, and her term was supposed to end on March 31, 2018. However, in light of the state Assembly elections, the state government had sought an extension of her tenure for three months (i.e till June 30′ 2018) and the same had been approved by the Centre.
