Second flight from Dubai with 173 passenger on board scheduled to land at MIA today

Mangaluru: The second flight from Dubai, ferrying 173 passengers, including 23 pregnant women is scheduled to land at Mangalore International Airport, at 6.30 pm, on Monday.

Among the 173 passengers, 75 passengers are from Dakshina Kannada district, 63 are from Udupi, 25 are from Bengaluru, eight persons from Kodagu district and two residents of Uttara Kannada district.

Measures have already been taken to divide these passengers into two categories-‘A’ and ‘B’.

Those with Covid-19 symptoms like cough, cold and fever will be categorised as ‘A’ and those without any such symptoms would be put in ‘B’ category.

The passengers who don’t have symptoms will be send to their native districts and they will be kept in quarantine for 14 days there.

In order to quarantine the Dubai returnees in district, 10 hotels were already identified with the condition that the passengers will pay for it.

The tariff will be from Rs 1000 to 5,400 based the facilities being provided in the rooms. Those who can not afford to pay, can opt for hostels, identified by the district administration for quarantining.

DK Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh has already paid visit to MIA on Saturday, to ensure that there are no short comings in the arrangements to receive the reprtiates this time.

Several complaints were heard when the first flight carrying the Dubai passengers land here in MIA on May 12.
