Bengaluru: Here’s some good news for the thousands of daily metro commuters. Namma Metro is expected to add a second six-car train to its fleet by the month’s end.

Namma Metro technicians had begun the work of pairing the second set of intermediate cars with an existing train on Friday, September 7 and the work is still in progress at the Byappanahalli depot. According to the authorities, the pairing work takes only three weeks time- two weeks for the pairing, which includes software and hardware compatibility, and one week for the train run.

The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) introduced the first six-car train service in the city in the month of June.

“Our plan is to introduce this six-car train on the Purple Line (Byappanahalli-Mysore Road),” explained an officer who is privy to the developments
