A man has been taken into custody for allegedly operating an Instagram account that illegally shared covertly recorded visuals of women on the Bengaluru Metro. The arrest followed a complaint registered earlier this week, with officials confirming the individual behind the page was apprehended on Friday, as per NDTV.

The account, titled Bangalore Metro Clicks (@metro_chicks), had uploaded a series of photos and videos depicting female passengers without their awareness or permission. The clips were shot inside trains and across various platforms of the city’s metro system.

As reported by PTI, the page had amassed nearly 6,000 followers and contained at least 14 intrusive posts. All media from the account has since been wiped. Investigators stated that the women featured in the content appeared to have no idea they were being filmed.

The incident came to light during a routine digital surveillance carried out by a police officer on May 20. Once flagged, the matter was swiftly escalated. A formal case has been filed under voyeurism and specific provisions of the Information Technology Act, said Lokesh B. Jagalasar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South).

The case is currently under the supervision of the Banashankari police station. Officials reiterated their unwavering commitment to safeguarding women’s dignity in public areas.

This arrest adds to growing concerns about digital privacy violations and misuse of social platforms.
