Security Guard Arrested for Smuggling and Selling Ganja in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: A security guard working at a private firm in Marathahalli has been arrested for smuggling ganja from Odisha and selling it at inflated rates in the city.
Suspect Identified
The accused, Durgaprasad, originally from Odisha, was a resident of Marathahalli. Police seized 10 kg of ganja worth ₹4.40 lakh from him.
Modus Operandi
Investigations revealed that Durgaprasad frequently traveled to Odisha, where he purchased ganja from his contacts at lower rates. He smuggled it via bus and train, discreetly packed in bags. While working as a security guard, he built a customer network, marketing the product as top-quality ganja to maximize profits.
How Police Nabbed Him
On March 15, Marathahalli police, acting on a tip-off, caught Durgaprasad red-handed while he was selling ganja at a secluded playground. He was arrested, and a Bengaluru court has remanded him to judicial custody.
