Y Combinator hosted its Startup School India event in Bengaluru, bringing together founders, engineers and aspiring entrepreneurs from across the country.
While the programme featured startup leaders from companies such as Meesho, Razorpay and Groww, one unexpected moment stole the spotlight.
Security guard turns aspiring founder
Ankit Gupta shared on social media that he met a security guard working at the event venue in Electronic City, who turned out to be a mechanical engineering student and aspiring entrepreneur.
According to Gupta, the young man showed him a product he is set to launch next week.
The YC partner praised the encounter and described it as a sign of India’s deep startup potential.
‘Peak Bengaluru’ moment goes viral
Soon after the post, a man identifying himself as Karthik Nagapuri responded online with a selfie alongside Gupta.
Social media users called the interaction a “Peak Bengaluru” moment, saying it reflected the city’s unique culture where innovation can emerge from anywhere.
Many users also said India needs stronger support systems to guide young founders and student innovators.
Bengaluru’s startup spirit shines
The episode has resonated widely because Bengaluru is often seen as India’s startup capital, where ambition, technology and entrepreneurship meet across every level of society.
The moment also highlighted how talent and ideas are not limited by titles or job roles.
