Bengaluru: In the wake of raids at Congress minister D.K. Shivakumar’s house in Delhi and the Eagleton Resort on Bengaluru’s outskirts, security has been tightened at the Income Tax headquarters on Queens Road. Senior police officials have instructed the staff not to allow general public and suspended work such as receiving forms or enquiries for some time.

The security staff have been checking the IDs of officials before letting them inside the premises. Police personnel have been deployed outside the office.

Meanwhile, hundreds of Congress party workers staged a protest against the BJP government outside Shivakumar’s residence in Sadashivanagar and the Gandhi Statue on Sheshadri Road, holding the Centre responsible for the raid.

The protesters shouted slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah and even burnt their effigies.
