Bengaluru: A woman reportedly murdered her husband for spending the Rs 500 she gave him to buy a gas cylinder and for beating her every day while under the influence of alcohol. It is said that she bludgeoned her husband to death with the same wooden stick he was using to beat her at the time.
The incident is reported to have occurred on Friday night.
The accused is identified as Asha (35), a resident of Katriguppe near Basavanagudi, and the victim is her 45-year-old husband Umesh.
Both husband and wife hail from the Kalaburagi district. They had moved to Bengaluru 12 years ago in search of jobs. The couple has two children.
In her statement to the police, Asha said that her husband would beat her after consuming liquor every day and spending all his earnings on alcohol.
“On Friday, I had given him Rs 500 to buy LPG. But he used the money to buy alcohol. When I questioned him, he started beating me with a wooden stick. In self-defence I snatched it from him and hit him on his head. He died,” she told the police in her confession.
The accused has been arrested and the children are now with their relatives.
