Bengaluru: Janata Dal (Secular) state president and former chief minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Friday demanded Chief Minister Siddaramaiah send the two top police officials, who are at loggerheads for sharing money, on a compulsory leave to protect Karnataka’s image.

Speaking with media persons here, Kumaraswamy said the tussle between the two police officials exposed Siddaramaiah-led administration’s weakness. “Are these top police officials eligible to express views to media persons? I demand Siddaramaiah to send these police officials on a long leave and order a probe into the matter,’’ Kumaraswamy said.

The former chief minister said Parappana Agrahara Central Prison authorities have to give Rs 1 crore every month to give it to the Director General of Police (Prisons). “The jail authorities are supposed to give Rs 25 lakh to Deputy Inspector General of Police Roopa every month. She has raked up the issue since the jail authorities are giving the entire amount to the Director General of Police (Prisons),’’ he said.

He claimed Sasikala paid Rs 2 crore bribe to the jail authorities for providing special amenities. “According to the information available with me, she has to pay Rs 10 lakh to the jail authorities every month,’’ he said.

Coming down heavily on chief minister Siddaramaiah for claiming his government as a transparent government, he said that Siddaramaiah has been busy in mono acting on every available platform to claim his government as the most transparent government. “People of Karnataka are intelligent. They know how to teach a lesson to non-performing government. I want the chief minister not treat the war between two police officials casually. Let chief minister order a probe by the Anti-Corruption Bureau. How can truth come out if Siddaramaiah orders a probe by a retired chief secretary?’’ he asks.

He also challenged Siddaramaiah to win in the next Assembly elections. “I never said that I will become the Chief Minister. It is Siddaramaiah who is busy in announcing that he will continue as the chief minister. I appealed the people of the state to give an opportunity to the JD(S) to find solutions to the problems in the state,’’ he said.
