Bengaluru: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa’s call for the members of the BJP to sacrifice for the party’s cause has led to a debate within the saffron party’s state unit. BSY indicated that most of the senior leaders may not get a chance to be in his cabinet.
According to sources, as Yediyurappa needs to accommodate around 15 rebel MLAs who quit the JDS and Congress, most of the party leaders including R Ashok, the Vokkaliga face of the party, have been asked to sacrifice. “All the senior leaders including Suresh Kumar, Basavaraj Bommai, S A Ramadas and C T Ravi are expected to miss getting cabinet posts,” explained a BJP leader who was part of the CM’s meeting with party leaders on Thursday.
“K S Eshwarappa is also likely to not get a minister’s post. Only a handful leaders like Chikkanayakanahalli MLA J C Madhuswamy, Malleshwaram MLA Ashwattanarayan, Angara from Sullia and Appachchu Ranjan from Madikeri may get cabinet berths,” he added.
Pressure tactics: Various leaders have already started mounting pressure on Yediyurappa using their RSS links and caste groups to sneak into the cabinet, he explained.
