Bengaluru: The sensational and mysterious killing of journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh will be made into a movie by noted filmmaker A M R Ramesh soon.

Ramesh known for “Cyanide” and “Attahasa” on September 19 said, “I was shocked when I learnt about the brutal murder of Gauri. As I knew Gauri closely, I have decided to make a film on her, exploring all possible angles for her killing.”

Currently, he is finalising a script based on the story of IPS officer D Roopa who exposed jail irregularities and special privileges given to AIADMK leader Sasikala.

He further said, “I am looking at the incident from the angle of an investigative journalist. My intention is not to exploit the death of Gauri. But it will be a humble attempt to get justice for Gauri whom I knew for the past two decades.”

“I have worked with Indrajit Lankesh in his movie ‘Monalisa’. Gauri always admired my work and I am still not able to accept that she is no more. I have multiple projects but presently all my attention is on Gauri’s case,” he added.

In the movie, he will also focus on Kalburgi and Pansare murder cases.

Gauri Lankesh, known for her progressive and fearless writing, was shot dead at close range by unknown assailants at her home in Bengaluru on September 5. The 55-year-old journalist had returned home in her car and was opening the gate when motorcycle-borne assailants fired at her indiscriminately, with two bullets hitting her in the chest and one in her forehead.
