Bengaluru: Auto Raja is one of the most popular movies of late Shankarnag, who has always been revered as a trendsetter in Sandalwood. Shankarnag, who dreamt about the Namma Metro project 30 years ago is worshipped by the auto drivers as the symbol of luck. However, this year many auto drivers’ unions in the city decided to celebrate his birthday as the auto driver’s day.
Auto Raja movie of Shankarnag was released in the year 1982. It was directed by Vijay and screenplay was written by MD Sundar. Naguva Gulabi Huve song of this movie is still very popular in Kannada.
According to the auto union members, on November 17 various auto unions including Namma Auto, Peace Auto, B.Pac, Mahindra Electric Auto company will jointly celebrate Shankarnag’s birthday as the auto drivers’ day in Jayanagar.
Kannada actor Shrimurali will be the brand ambassador of the event. Besides this, several auto unions are planning to celebrate the auto drivers day on November 17 across the city.
