Bengaluru: An Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) working with the Shivajinagar police station has committed suicide. His family members informed the police that he was depressed due to his poor health condition. Police have registered an Un-Natural Death (UDR).

According to the police, ASI D Ramasomappa is the officer who committed suicide. He was discharged from the hospital last week after taking treatment for his ill health. He was staying at the Shivajinagar police quarters with his wife Munirathnamma. Two of his children are working at Hyderabad.

His wife Munirathnamma, in her complaint to the police, informed that on Saturday he committed suicide when he was home all alone. “He hanged using a cloth to the fan ceiling,” she informed the police.

Police suspected that Ramasomappa may have taken the extreme step due to his poor health. “His children are working in Hyderabad. After their father’s discharge, they returned to Hyderabad,” police added.
