The swearing-in ceremony of D.K. Shivakumar as Karnataka’s next Chief Minister will be held at the Glass House in Lok Bhavan, Bengaluru, on June 3. The decision was taken to ensure minimal inconvenience to the public and smooth conduct of the event.
Announcing the change, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) Working President G.C. Chandrashekar appealed to party workers and supporters not to gather at the venue in large numbers.
Focus on public convenience
According to Mr Chandrashekar, the venue was finalised keeping public convenience in mind. With a large number of political leaders, dignitaries and invited guests expected to attend the ceremony, authorities have opted for a location that can better manage the arrangements while reducing disruption to normal city life.
The swearing-in marks a significant political transition in Karnataka as D.K. Shivakumar prepares to take charge of the state’s top office.
Party workers asked to avoid the venue
The Congress leadership has urged party workers to cooperate with the arrangements and refrain from travelling to Bengaluru specifically for the ceremony.
Mr Chandrashekar assured supporters that Mr Shivakumar would personally visit district centres across Karnataka on dates to be announced later. During these visits, he is expected to interact with party workers and thank them, along with the people of the state, for their support.
Statewide outreach planned
The proposed district visits are being viewed as an effort to connect directly with grassroots workers and acknowledge their contribution to the party’s political journey. The outreach programme is expected to cover multiple districts and provide supporters an opportunity to meet the new Chief Minister closer to their hometowns.
The swearing-in ceremony on June 3 is expected to draw national attention as Karnataka begins a new political chapter under D.K. Shivakumar’s leadership.
