Shocking Air Gun Attack in Karnataka Factory Leaves Worker Hospitalised
A disturbing incident at a kitchen appliance manufacturing unit in Karnataka’s Harohalli Industrial Zone, Ramanagara district, resulted in a long-time employee being seriously injured after a colleague assaulted him with an industrial air pressure gun.
The accused, Govinda Gowda, a newly appointed staffer, reportedly intentionally targeted coworker Paramesh M M during a confrontation stemming from workplace tension. According to police, Gowda entered the washroom, where Paramesh was showering, and blasted compressed air into his rectum using a high-pressure cleaning tool typically meant for machinery.
The victim collapsed instantly and was hurriedly taken to a private hospital. Medical professionals said he suffered from extensive abdominal swelling and digestive complications, requiring over 20 days of treatment. His condition is now stable.
The matter only surfaced when Paramesh’s wife, Savitha — also a long-term employee at the factory — approached the authorities to lodge a complaint. She explained that she delayed taking legal action due to her husband’s fragile health and her role as his caregiver during recovery.
Police arrested Gowda on Wednesday and filed a case under multiple Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) provisions, including charges of intentional harm and criminal intimidation. He was later granted bail.
Meanwhile, the victim and his wife have worked at the facility for nearly 17 years, raising serious questions about employee safety, workplace conduct, and factory accountability.
