Quick commerce apps have revolutionized convenience shopping, offering speed and efficiency for those with packed schedules. However, did you know your smartphone could dictate grocery prices? Yes, you heard it right. A Bengaluru resident, Pooja Chhabda, recently exposed how platforms like Zepto allegedly charge Android and iPhone users differently.
Pooja shared her startling discovery on social media, showing a significant price gap for the same products. For instance, 500 grams of grapes cost ₹65 on an Android device but soared to ₹146 on an iPhone. Similarly, capsicum was priced at ₹37 on Android, compared to ₹69 on iPhone. Even staples like cauliflower and onions reflected this shocking disparity.
Outraged, Pooja tagged Zepto in her post, questioning their pricing policy. Her caption read, “Why are you doing this @zeptonow??” Her followers reacted with surprise, humor, and concern.
One user quipped, “Wanted an iPhone? Pay Apple’s tax!” Another added, “This is why I keep both Android and iPhone.” Some cited the Apple App Store’s commission, which developers might pass on to customers.
Others criticized the practice, calling it unfair. “If this continues, I may stop using iPhone altogether,” one wrote. Several users tagged Zepto’s Instagram handle, demanding an explanation.
While the company has yet to respond, the issue has sparked debate about device-based pricing.
