“Shoe Thief Strikes at Midnight in Bengaluru”
Bengaluru: In a curious case of theft, a man was captured on CCTV stealing shoes and sandals from outside flats in a multi-storey apartment in Ayappanagar near KR Puram, around midnight on Thursday. The video, now viral on social media platform X, shows the man—disguised in a monkey cap and carrying a large gunny bag—climbing over the building’s compound wall at 12:20 a.m.
He quietly collects several pairs of footwear left near doorsteps before vanishing the same way he entered. Despite the widespread attention online, no official police complaint has been made so far.
“We’re aware of the video circulating on social media,” a police official said. “However, action can be taken only after a formal complaint is lodged.”
While the stolen items may not hold much value, residents are alarmed by the security breach. The break-in has triggered conversations about the need for well-lit surroundings, secure boundaries, and surveillance systems to prevent even minor crimes in residential spaces.
This odd incident is a reminder that no item, however mundane, is immune to theft—and that vigilance remains key in urban living.
