SI murder case: Accused Harish says, ‘I was waiting for revenge’

Bengaluru: Harish Babu, the alleged killer of Sub-Inspector Jagadish, revealed during questioning that when the police officer was chasing the duo, he tripped and fell. Harish Babu then sat on his chest and brutally stabbed him 13 times till he breathed his last.
SI murder case: Alleged killers taken back to murder spot-1When explaining how the accused killed the police officer, he said, ““I could have escaped after snatching Jagadish’s pistol. But he would have alerted his team and we would have been caught.”

“My wife and associates were brutally harassed by the police when they were caught for burglary and robbery. I was waiting for revenge. I decided to kill Jagadish as he fell into the gutter. I stabbed him with a dagger after Madhu snatched his pistol,” he told the police.

According to a leading daily, accused Madhu’s mother had a larger role to play. She was an expert in robbery and used to hand over the looted items to the duo. They then allegedly sold it to pawnbrokers in the neighbouring state of Andra Pradesh. She had a gang in various districts of the state like Shivamogga, Davangere, Chikkamagaluru. Police had arrested Thimmakka and her other son Raghu earlier, when the main killers were on the run.

They revealed about the crime when the Bengaluru Rural police had taken the duo to the murder spot for questioning. Till Saturday, the police who are probing the crucial case believed that Madhu was the killer of police officer, said a police officer to sources.

Earlier on Saturday, the Bengaluru Police reportedly took Harish Babu and Madhu, the two alleged killers of Sub-Inspector Jagadish, to the crime spot and conducted mahazar.

Madhu and Harish Babu were nabbed by the Nagpur crime branch police at Nagpur railway station in Maharashtra on Monday, were brought to the city on Wednesday night and later taken to Nelamanagala, where they were questioned.

Jagadish, sub-inspector of Doddaballapur, son of a retired police officer was stabbed to death while chasing the two bike thieves on October 16.
