Bengaluru: After the Karnataka High Court slammed the state government and Bengaluru Police for clamping Section 144 ahead of the CAA protests last year, the Karnataka Congress unit staged a protest rally in this regard on Saturday, February 15.
The protest, which was led by former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and KPCC President Dinesh Gundu Rao, had moved towards Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa’s official residence at Race Course. When the protest began going out of control, the police took Siddaramaiah and Rao into custody.
MLA N A Harris’s son Mohammed Nalapad, MLAs Ramalinga Reddy, Rizwan Arshad, Soumya Reddy, and other leaders had also joined the protest rally.
The protesters were seen holding placards with slogans such as “BJP government is a shameless government which was slammed by the High Court for clamping prohibitory orders”, “Questioning doesn’t mean creating atrocities. Why are the charges of atrocities put on those who question the government?” etc.
