Bengaluru: Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah on Saturday May 1 said that the vaccination drive for the age group between 18 and 44 will not start until the third week of May. He criticised Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa’s symbolic launch as a photo opportunity.
Speaking to media persons reporters, Siddaramaiah slammed government for announcing a vaccination drive for all above 18 without ensuring vaccine stock. The chief secretary has informed me that the state requires 3.5 crore doses of vaccines to vaccinate everyone. And without stock what was the hurry for announcement, he questioned.
He urged the central government to take vaccination to people’s doorsteps as many in rural areas will not be unable to register online. In the present circumstances, vaccination is the only way forward, though state has to fund vaccines that are made available for people below 45 years, he noted.
